Egg Chutney Pattice

A parsi delicacy, which was always high in demand, is something I grew up with when I was living in a parsi neighborhood in Mumbai. Hope you enjoy this delicious and wholesome recipe!

Ingredients for Egg Chutney Pattice:

Eggs – 2 boiled
Potatoes – 5-6 boiled and mashes
Salt – ½ Tbsp
Black pepper powder – 1 tsp
Shredded Coconut – 1 cup
Cilantro – handful
Mint leaves – 5-6
Green Chilly – 1 (add more if you want it spicy)
Sugar – ½ Tbsp
Lemon Juice – 1 Tbsp
Salt – ½ Tsp
Oil for frying
Semolina – ½ cup

Method:

1. Put shredded coconut, cilantro, mint leaves, green chilly, sugar, lemon juice and salt in a mixer. Grind it to a smooth paste adding very little water.
2. Take boiled and mashed potatoes in a bowl, add salt and pepper powder. Mix well and keep aside.
3. Beat an egg very well and keep aside.
4. Flatten the potato mixture in the palm of your hand, put half an egg and chutney and cover it with the potato mixture, roll in into a ball.
5. Roll the pattice in semolina, dip it in egg and deep fry in oil on medium heat until light brown.
