Onion Pakora/ Onion Fritters

Onion Pakora is an easy to make recipe which tastes amazing accompanied with a cup of hot tea in the monsoon season or winters! Onion pakoda/Onion fritters are made with sliced onions coated with gram flour and rice flour with spices, deep fried in hot oil.

Ingredients for Onion Pakora:

Onion – 1 sliced
Salt – ¾ Tsp
Red chilli Powder – 1 Tsp
Turmeric – ¼ Tsp
Ajwain/Caraway seeds – ¼ Tsp
Green chilli – 1 finely chopped
Cilantro – 1 Tbsp finely chopped
Water – 1 Tbsp
Gram flour/Besan/Chickpea flour – 6 Tbsp
Rice flour – 1 Tbsp
Oil – for frying

Method:
1. Take sliced onions in a bowl, add salt. Crush well and the onions will release water.
2. Add red chilli powder, turmeric, ajwain, chopped green chilli, chopped cilantro, gram flour & rice flour.
3. Mix well & add water to get a good consistency on the batter.
4. Fry in hot oil on medium heat.
5. Serve hot with ketchup and a cup of hot tea!
